- “I’ve been a Hamilton CarShare member for the last several months. It’s been great. My bike is still my preferred mode of transportation, but on days when my travel plans require a car, it’s great to know I have three to choose from within a few minutes walk. While missing the fresh air and exhilaration of the bike ride, the end of each CarShare trip brings that extra satisfaction that I chose a more thoughtful, sustainable way to get around.” – Andrew, member

“Joining the CarShare was one of the best things that we did in 2009! Thanks so much for all your hard work in getting Hamilton CarShare up and running!” – Angela, member

“Thank you very much for this Insurance Experience letter. You had once advertised that joining CarShare could benefit me in the future if ever I was interested in purchasing a car. Well you were so right – when I purchased my own insurance I was rated at a 6 stars versus 1 star and the cost difference if I did not have prior insurance through CarShare would have been more than $1000 extra per year. I am very happy about this. Thank you for giving me all the information about CarShare. I benefited instantly, by having access to CarShare, and also long term – by having insurance! – Sharleen, very happy member of CarShare

“We have two children and have been car-free for over ten years now. We’re living proof that it’s possible, and that it doesn’t keep us housebound. And I don’t have to shovel my driveway if I don’t feel like it.” – Nathalie, member

“It was certainly more convenient having a car in the driveway, but it was definitely more expensive! Even though we are frequent car co-op users (our bills are never less than $300/month), owning a used vehicle cost us easily over $500/month when we added it all up.” – Marc, member

“We are so glad to have joined the CarShare and be contributing to a more sustainable form of transportation, as well as resisting car ownership in a very car-focused society. Thank you for your work!” – Krysta and Em (and Ringo), members

“The first time I went to pick up one of the co-op cars with my daughter (age 4), I explained to her that as members of Grand River CarShare we owned lots of cars, all different colours, and we shared them. When we walked back to our house, she patted one of the cars in our parking lot and said ‘Mummy, can we take this one next?’ My daughter knows that cars cause pollution and she likes to take care of the air and trees. I think kids like to feel helpful in this way. She speaks with pride of being in a car co-op.” – Susan, member
