So you’re thinking about joining Community CarShare, here’s how to get started:

1. Check your eligibility:

Are you at least 21 years old? Do you have a full G class Ontario driver’s license? If you have a G2, you’ll have to get your G before you can join. If you hold a license from another province, you will have to switch your license to Ontario before joining.

Do you have a relatively clean driving record? If your record is squeaky clean, you’re good to go.  You’re likely still eligible for membership even if it’s a bit blemished. Some of the things that don’t fly with our insurer are an at-fault accident in the last three years, or a major speeding conviction. Please note, this is not an inclusive list, and we have to check your abstract to be absolutely sure.

2. Decide which rate plan you’d like to join under:

The Regular Plan, Classic Plan, and Simple Plan are your three rate plan choices. Check out the Our Rates page for details on all of them!

3. Fill out the online application form:

Head to the Join Now page, and provide your contact info, driver’s license number, select your rate plan, and how you’d like to pay for your trips. Once we receive your application, we’ll process it within 3 business days, and give you a call to arrange a 30-minute driver orientation where you’ll learn the ins and outs of being a CarShare member.
