Coming soon to Niagara Region!

Looking to free up some room in your garage? Want to help others do the same? If you strive to drive less but you still need to use a car on occasion, carsharing may be the right alternative for you to owning a personal vehicle or a great way to add a second family vehicle without actually having to buy one.

Community CarShare is the umbrella name for the non-profit cooperative which includes Grand River, Hamilton, and coming soon, Niagara CarShare. Operating in the Kitchener-Waterloo Region since 1998, Grand River CarShare began as a grassroots co-operative, and in 2009, expanded to Hamilton as Hamilton CarShare. In 2012, we will be looking to expand again into the Niagara Region as Niagara CarShare to provide this service across the Golden Horseshoe. As a potential stakeholder in bringing Niagara CarShare to your area, you have the power to help initiate a massive green movement which has already taken off in other cities across Canada, such as Toronto, Vancouver, and more recently in Winnipeg. Soon St. Catharines and the Niagara Region can be a part of this growing trend of joining CarShare instead of owning a personal vehicle. Let’s make a positive change in the way we use transportation!

Community CarShare provides 24 hour, self-serve access to a fleet of cars that are placed within close proximity to your home or place of employment. This means that no matter where you are, you can still have the comfort of knowing you have access to a vehicle when you need one without the costs of ownership. This will allow you to reduce your ecological footprint by driving less and increase your vitality by using more active forms of transportation, all while saving money on transportation costs.

As a co-operative we care about improving the communities in which we operate by providing a sustainable transportation option for the future, and as a non-profit we strive to keep our rates low to save you money. We are member owned, so this means you will have a voice in how your CarShare is operated. In order to launch in a new service area we need 60 new members to supply the demand for an initial 3 car system. You can be one of the these people who helps to start it all and by telling a friend or two we can be off the ground in no time.
