Community CarShare
Other CarSharing Organizations
CarSharing organizations now exist in most major cities across Canada, making this innovative form of transportation available to more Canadians than ever before. While the CarSharing movement took off in Europe more than 20 years ago, CarSharing first came to Canada and North America in 1994 with the establishment of Communauto in Quebec. The first co-operative CarShare established in Canada was Modo in Vancouver in 1996 (formerly known as The Co-operative Auto Network), and Community CarShare became the first carsharing organization to operate in Ontario in 1998.
